Saturday Reads...

Saturday reads is a Meme hosted here on Scorching Book Reviews. Here we tell readers the book we have read this week that has captured our hearts the most. It could be a new read, an old read or one not out just yet.

This weeks pick is.....
Run the Risk (Love Undercover, #1)
AMAZON
When Detective Logan Riske goes undercover to find Pepper Yates, a potential link to his best friend's unsolved murder, he vows to gain her cooperation by any means necessary. But the elusive beauty is more suspicious—and in far more danger—than he expected. And the last thing Logan needs is to start caring for her….Pepper has spent years dodging the corrupt club owner who will stop at nothing to keep her silenced. She can trust no one, not even the handsome new "construction worker" who's moved in next door. The heat between them is undeniable. But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires—or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer's crosshairs?

I am a HUGE fan of Lori Foster and was so excited about the start of a new series from her. I was not disappointed.  Just a great story with lovable characters, great HOT and STEAMY sex scenes, and a great HEA.

Reviewed: Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha 4 out of 5 rating...

Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1)
All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.
The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.
Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to the gang, to a dangerous world of sex, lust and violence. A world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.
I had no idea what to expect from this book and it just totally blew me away from the beginning. The characters pulled me into the story through this unique world Kit Rocha created. I was so hooked that I couldn't put the book down. Before I even realized it, I had read half the book.

I loved Noelle's character as well as Lex, Dallas, Ace, Bren, Rachel and Jasper. I loved the friendship and camaraderie that existed between the guys. I am hoping for Rachel and Ace to get together. I was a little confused about the relationship between Dallas and Lex. And I was also confused with Jasper's treatment towards Noelle. He ran hot and cold with her through most of the book and I couldn't figure out what he expected from her. He made up for it, though, and I wanted them to have their HEA or as close to a HEA as this story could provide. I was happy with the way the book ended but I was left questioning if the sexual dynamic between Noelle, Jasper, Dallas and Lex would continue on through the series.

WOW...The sex scenes were smokin dirty hot, especially the scene with Ace/Noelle/Jasper and then with Noelle/Jasper/Lex/Dallas. I was sure that my Kindle would catch fire!!

Such a great story. I am so happy that this is a series and I can't wait to return to my favorite characters and immerse myself in this crazy world.  Definitely in my keeper pile to be reread.
4 out of 5 rating.

"She gets full fucking disclosure. If she's not willing to tend bar, clean house, or suck dick by the end of the week, she's gone."  "Fuck you," Lex shot back pleasantly. "Hop on my cock anytime, love." (Dallas to Lex regarding Noelle)

But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires—or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer's crosshairs?
I am a HUGE fan of Lori Foster. Men Who Walk The Edge Of Honor series, The Buckhorn Brothers series, and The Fighter series are some of my favorites. I was so excited to read that Lori was releasing the Love Undercover series.  I couldn't wait to read. Lori writes some of the best Alpha heroes along with heroines that are their perfect fit.

I struggled through the first half of Run The Risk. Not because of the writing or the story, because I was definitely pulled into it from the beginning, but from all of the secrets and lies between Logan and Pepper (love these names!!). It just about did me in. I hated that Logan was okay with using Pepper to get to Rowdy. While I liked Pepper's character immediately, I struggled with Logan's character for this reason. I wanted to like him so bad  but I just couldn't get over his intentions towards Pepper. I only knew the reason Logan was lying and using Pepper, I had no idea what Pepper was hiding. I just wanted to kick Logan~constantly trying to seduce Pepper to get the information he wanted. UGH!! I loved when Pepper turned the tables on him and he had no idea what to do.

Even though I struggled with Logan's character in the beginning, I was immediately interested in the secondary characters of  Reese, Rowdy, and Dash. I was so happy to see that they will each get their own books. I liked the hint of a story line between Rowdy and the waitress at the bar and hope she is the heroine in his book. And I liked the little glimpse of a future story between Reese and Alice. Can't wait!!

Wow...when all the secrets and lies came out, this book just exploded and I was totally sucked in and I couldn't put it down. I didn't want to leave Logan and Pepper. Logan definitely made up for all of his lies. Kristen Ashley is the only author that I have read that has a way with her books that have you hating the Alpha male hero in the beginning and then you can't help but fall for him. I didn't think Lori Foster could do anything to make me like Logan~oh but she definitely succeeded because not only did I eventually like him~I loved him!!!  Pepper was a great heroine. I just loved her character and her relationship with Rowdy. She may be one of my all time favorite heroines.

Just a great story with lovable characters, great HOT and STEAMY sex scenes, and a great HEA.  I would definitely recommend Run The Risk and can't wait for Reese's book next. Run The Risk has a place in my keeper pile to be reread.  5 out of 5 rating.

"The only risk I want you to have is my last name." (Logan to Pepper~his last name is Riske~*sigh*)

Reviewed: Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed by Anna Campbell...

Will a week of seduction...
Desperate to save her sister's life, Sidonie Forsythe has agreed to submit herself to a terrible fate: Beyond the foreboding walls of Castle Craven, a notorious, hideously scarred scoundrel will take her virtue over the course of seven sinful nights. Yet instead of a monster, she encounters a man like no other. And during this week, she comes to care for Jonas Merrick in ways that defy all logic—even as a dark secret she carries threatens them both.
...Spark a lifetime of passionate surrender?
Ruthless loner Jonas knows exactly who he is. Should he forget, even for a moment, the curse he bears, a mere glance in the mirror serves as an agonizing reminder. So when the lovely Sidonie turns up on his doorstep, her seduction is an even more delicious prospect than he originally planned. But the hardened outcast is soon moved by her innocent beauty, sharp wit, and surprising courage. Now as dangerous enemies gather at the gate to destroy them, can their new, fragile love survive?

This is the first book that I have read from Anna Campbell. Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed was such a great story. It had everything that I look for in a book and I was so glad that I read it. There was romance, a virgin heroine, a scarred hero, hot sexing on a desk as well as in bed, conflict, suspense, secrets, heartache and a HEA!!
I was pulled into the story right from the beginning and was entertained through to the epilogue!! And it was such a cute epilogue!! I didn't want it to end.
I absolutely loved Jonas!! He was such a sweet, tormented, broken, lonely soul and I just couldn't help but want to hug him!! I loved the way he treated Sidonie and the sweet names that he called her in Italian. I liked Sidonie but she got on my nerves a little in the way she treated Jonas~especially in the beginning.
An entertaining read that I would definitely recommend. I look forward to reading more from Anna Campbell and especially look forward to reading the rest of this series. 4 out of 5 rating.

Reviewed: Reflected In You by Sylvia Day...

October 2, 2012
Reflected in You (Crossfire, #2)
Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...
After reading Bared To You, I fell in love with Gideon and Eva and became a HUGE fan of Sylvia Day. I could not wait for Reflected In You and I was so not disappointed!! This is such an AWESOME book and it might even be my favorite of the two so far and that is saying something because I have some mad crazy love for Bared To You!! After finishing Reflected In You, all I want to do is go back and reread the series. I am not ready to leave Gideon and Eva. I just can't get enough of them and December is way to long of a wait to get my fix!! LOL ;)
Reflected In You definitely has a place in my keeper pile.

This book wore me out!! I was emotionally spent after reading. I had forgot not only what a messed-up relationship Eva and Gideon had, but also how much baggage weighed each of them down. They were just such lovable damaged characters that my heart ached reading this story. It was hard to read them struggle to hold on to each other while battling their insecurities. I just wanted to shake them and then hug them!! LOL

"But here I was, constantly awed by the gorgeousness of the complicated, frustrating, messed-up, sexy-as-sin man I was falling deeper in love with every day."

"You hit me the instant I saw you," he said gruffly. "I couldn't look away. I wanted you immediately. Excessively. Almost violently."

"Looking at you for the first time made me think about sex. Screaming, sheet clawing sex." (Eva to Gideon)

"I saw that." His hands slid up either side of my spine. "And I knew you saw me, too. Saw what I am...what I have inside me. You saw right through me." (Gideon to Eva)

"No one's ever seen before, Eva. You're the only one."

"The simple fact was, Gideon and I were the best and worst things that had ever happened to each other."

Both Eva and Gideon had some scenes that surprised me and left me talking to my Kindle. This was when my heart ached the most and I wanted to just shake them because if they would have just opened up to each other, especially Gideon, and trusted each other, these things could have been avoided. But I guess that really is the whole basis of Reflected In You. Gideon and Eva struggling to trust each other with their secrets and insecurities to build a stronger healthier relationship. I loved how Eva stood up for Gideon against the people who had wronged him in his life. So good!!!

"Are you hurt anywhere else?" I asked, feeling so emotionally raw after the long night we'd had. He caught my wrist and pulled my hand down to press flat over his heart. "Here." *sigh* *cries*

"Look what it's doing to me! I hurt you last might. On purpose. Without even realizing it, because the resentment is eating at me even while I'm convincing myself that I can live with everything you're not telling me." (Eva to Gideon)

"Don't you have enough to look past as it is? How much shit can I pile on you before you run like hell?"(Gideon to Eva)

I absolutely love Gideon. I love his crazy-sexy-hot-possessive-sweet-caring-controlling-arrogant-jealous ways. And I love Eva and all her fun-sweet-loving-caring-insecure-jealous ways. They really are the perfect match for each other. I have to say that I am not a huge fan of Cary and especially not after the concert incident, in which if he had just warned Eva, that whole situation could have been avoided!!! UGH!!

Reflected In You had some really funny moments between Gideon and Eva. The incident at the pool in Vegas and how Eva got back at Gideon for it and how Gideon reacted to what she did in return, was so funny~loved it!! They also had some really sweet, tender, heartwarming moments that left me a puddle of goo!! LOL

"I'd rather argue with you, angel, than laugh with anyone else."*sigh*

"You're the greatest risk I've ever taken." He pressed his lips gently to mine. "And the greatest reward." (Gideon to Eva)

"I was his safe place, which made me rare and invaluable to him."

Of course I couldn't end my review without talking about the sex. One of the things that I love about Gideon is that he is a dirty-talker and likes to take control in the bedroom or limo or shower or plane(you get the picture);) Wow...Sylvia Day can definitely write some SMOKIN-HOT, DIRTY, SEXY, PANTY-MELTING, DROOL-WORTHY, SIGH-INDUCING SEX scenes. The scenes in the shower, limo, concert, and on the plane nearly set my Kindle on fire!!! ;) (trust me you want to read these scenes~maybe even highlight them!!) LOL ;)

"You on your period?" I nodded. "Then I'll just have to come in your mouth." (Gideon to Eva~That's Gideon for you!!) LOL ;0

There isn't really anymore to say after that!! LOL ;)

BEST OF THE BEST rating!!!

Hot Ink
Mina never meant to fall for her sexy tattoo artist, Eric, or to become a model. But when she's asked to pose in a photo shoot for the Hot Ink tattoo studio, she can't say no. She finally gets a look at Eric's tattoos when they're cajoled into posing together, and in a few breathtaking moments, an on-camera kiss turns the passion they're asked to fake into something very real, leaving them both wanting more. The only problem is that Mina's not the glamour girl she looks like on the Hot Ink posters, or even in a tattoo magazine. She's only twenty-four, but being the sole guardian of her disabled younger sister has left her feeling much older. Will Eric still be interested when he gets to know the girl behind the ink and the make-up and finds out that she and her little sister are a package deal?
Hot Ink was a quick, fun, sweet, sexy read that I really liked. The story and characters entertained me from the start and kept me interested till the end. I thought the ending was really cute. Of course, I loved hot, sexy, tattooed Eric, but I also loved Mina and Jess. This books was a perfect read for me because it was not filled will conflict and angst. It was just nice to sit and read a quick story filled with lovable characters and sexy tattoos. LOL ;p This is my first time reading Ranae Rose and I will definitely be looking for more from her. 4 out of 5 rating.

Reviewed: White Trash Beautiful by Teresa Mummert...

BLURB FROM GOODREADS:
"I’m not naive. I know I don’t get the happily ever after. My knight in shining armor took the highway detour around this god forsaken shit hole. I’ve made peace with that. That doesn’t mean I’m going to lay down like a doormat and let every cocky prick in the trailer park have his way with me."
Cass lives a depressing life in a small trailer park in Eddington, Ga with her mother and abusive boyfriend Jackson. She works hard to barely make ends meet. One day Tucker White, the lead singer in the band Damaged, walks into her diner. He tries to show her that there is more to life than the hand she has been dealt but being with Tucker will come at a high price.
This is my first book from Teresa Mummert. I had never heard of her or White Trash Beautiful before. But once I saw her Tweet about the book, I was hooked on the name alone~then I saw the cover~then I read the blurb and chapter one~then I saw that Teresa saw Adam Levine as Tucker and I was a goner!! ;) LOL I had to read it. So when Teresa contacted me about doing a review, I was all over it.

White Trash Beautiful was so much more than I expected. I am having trouble putting my thoughts about the book into words. It was such a dark story filled with a ton of angst and brief glimpses of light through a romance of hope and love. This was not a fun or easy read and it was hard to read about Jax, Cass and Cass's mom. It was hard to see them struggle and to watch Cass try and hold everything, including herself, together.

Jax's character was just sad to read as was Cass's mother. I also felt bad in a way for Tucker, it just seemed like there was a whole lot of story waiting to come out about him that was going to be just as sad. I loved Tucker and I especially loved how he treated Cass. Cass, on the other hand, I didn't feel treated Tucker that great at all and I struggled with liking her character. She went back and forth with her feelings for Jax and Tucker and while I got it, it also made me just want to shake her. LOL

I was a nervous wreck reading White Trash Beautiful because I kept waiting for something bad to happen. My heart ached through the sad and happy moments in this story. I wanted Tucker and Cass to get their HEA.

White Trash Beautiful is another book that wore me out with all of the emotions that it brought out in me. I liked the ending and am thrilled to know that this is a series that will continue on with Tucker and Cass. I can't wait to read more about them and see how their relationship progresses. So, even though White Trash Beautiful was dark, edgy, emotional, and sad, I didn't want it to end!! I didn't want to leave Tucker and Cass. Definitely has a place in my keeper pile to be reread and I will definitely be looking for more from Teresa. 5 out of 5 rating.

Reviewed: Making Her Nights by Keri Ford...

Making Her Nights (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas, #4)
Chief Deputy Mike Gabel is the man in charge in Apple Trail. No one gives him more trouble than a certain blonde. While her stunts are frustrating to deal with, it’s the constant way she keeps him trapped in knots.
Tiffany McBride has a reputation for being a trouble maker. She’s been betting and causing trouble since her parents died when she was a teenager. What looks like a young woman sewing her oats, it’s actually desperate measures to gamble for extra money to put food on the table.
When these two acknowledge their attraction, sparks fly…that is if Mike’s public position can survive Tiffany’s frowned upon reputation.
Keri Ford is a new author to me and she hooked me with Making Her Nights. I don't know what took me so long to read this book. I absolutely LOVED it!! A short~fun~sexy read!! I fell in love with Tiffany and Mike right from the start. They were so cute together. She had a history of causing trouble and he was the uptight hottie sheriff who was always helping her out. I was totally entertained through out the story and I didn't want it to end. Loved the ending and can't wait to read the rest of the series and hopefully read more about Tiffany and Mike. Definitely in my keeper pile to be reread.

"She (Tiffany) finally, for the first time in her life, got the hug she'd been needing so damn bad under this tree. From Mike." *sigh*
