I pulled the bracelet out of the box and shut the drawer just when I felt Hawk's fingertips on the skin of my side right where the material started. Those fingertips became a hand gliding into my dress, across my ribs and then up where they cupped my opposite breast. Then he pulled me into his front.
"Hawk," I whispered, my head falling back to his shoulder as his thumb swept my nipple and I repeated, "Hawk."
"Hold onto the dresser. baby," he muttered into my ear.
"What?" I breathed as his other hand tugged up the skirt of my dress.
"Hold on," he ordered.
"We're late," I reminded him then sucked in breath when I got another nipple swipe.
"We're gonna be later," Hawk replied.
"But-"
"Hold on," he repeated, his hand sliding into the front  of my panties.  (Kindle 87%)

While drinking cosmopolitans, Gwendolyn Kidd meets the man of her dreams. Then she takes him home. Then she wakes up alone. But her fear that she lost her dream man turns into a relationship with a mystery man when, night after night in the dead of night, he comes back for more. Hoping it will blossom into something real, she lets him. But she doesn’t even know his name.

Gwen’s struggling with the decision to end their crazy non-relationship when her sister-from-hell, Ginger’s best friend pays a visit and warns Gwen that if she and her sister don't get smart, they'll both get d-e-a-d, dead. Gwen has no clue what’s going on but she’s used to Ginger’s antics and decides to lay the problem on her sister’s biker boyfriend's doorstep. Bad choice. She hits the Denver Underground radar with a big, loud ping.

This means Gwen’s Mystery Man, Cabe “Hawk” Delgado has to step in to keep her safe. But when Hawk gets a dose of Gwen in the daylight, he makes the decision that he finally wants real with Gwen. However when Gwen gets a dose of badass, bossy, straight-talker Hawk in the daylight, she decides she’s done.

Thus begins the head-to-head of the Commando vs. Cosmo Girl as Hawk woos Gwen in his own unique way, Gwen survives firebombs, drive-bys, kidnappings, hot pursuits by biker hotties and gorgeous police detectives and discovers the heartbreaking reason why Hawk kept her at arm’s length.

And as all this happens, Gwen finds that her sister’s troubles are serious trouble and she must decide who to keep alive: her sister-from-hell or the man of her dreams.

Now it's your turn!!

Teaser Tuesday... May 1st

Untitled
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This meme is simple and fun, you just pick up your current read, flip to a random page, and choose 1 or 2 teaser sentences to share! Here are the guidelines:
  • Grab Your Current Read
  • Open to a random page
  • Pick two “teaser” sentences from that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO SHARE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for other readers)
  • INCLUDE the TITLE & AUTHOR too, so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR and wish-lists! If possible, add the page number.
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

Today’s teaser comes from Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley.

"Babe, we don't need an excuse. Anyone who sees you in that dress and those shoes will know exactly why we're late." I felt my face pale, actually felt it, and turned my head to look at him. "That isn't true." "Okay, I'll amend my statement. Any man who sees you in that dress and those shoes will know exactly why we're late. Including your Dad." (Kindle 87%)

I'm not really sure what to think of this book. I enjoyed it but what pushed me to LOVE it was the epilogue.
I fell in love with Hawk in the epilogue -- prior to that I wasn't really sure about him. I didn't like the way he treated Gwen and even though I actually liked Gwen's character, she gave in way to easy to him.
I think in this book I would have liked it more if some of it was told from Hawk's point of view.
My favorite character in this book is Tack and I can't wait to read his story!!
I would definitely recommend it and I liked the story and LOVED the epilogue but for me I didn't fall in love with this book like I did Kristen Ashley's other books.  I'm going to reread it later and see if I still have the same opinion.  My rating is 5 out of 5 (mainly due to the epilogue).

Reviewed: Beneath The Skin by Lauren Dane...

REALLY LIKED IT

Beneath The Skin (De La Vega Cats, Book #3)
Gibson de La Vega is the Bringer, one of the Alpha’s right-hand cats. It is his job to mete out justice and defend the law that holds their jamboree together.
After a contentious meeting with another jamboree, he’s shot—Mia stumbles onto the scene and saves his life. He’s immediately drawn to the female who dug three silver bullets from his body. Even after he discovers she’s a Porter, a family his own harmed grievously half a century before.
Mia has enough in her life. She’s recovering from a vicious hate crime—an attack using silver has affected her ability to do what she loves most. The last thing she needs is a bossy alpha cat like Gibson. A de La Vega no less.
Despite the myriad reasons to stay away, even as they continue to hunt down the would-be killers, their attraction deepens into something else entirely.
The answers they find bring that threat far closer to home than anyone could have imagined and it’ll be up to Gibson to end the mess once and for all. And up to Mia to stand at his side, even as he risks his life…

Lauren Dane is one of my favorite authors and I loved the first two books in this series!! I was looking forward to reading Gibson's book and although I liked it, I didn't think it was as good as the first two in the series. I really liked Mia's character and I loved Gibson and her together. It was a short read (162 pages) and I enjoyed it and would recommend reading.

REALLY LIKED IT

Former marine Tom Cavanaugh has come home to Virgin River, ready to take over his family's apple orchard and settle down. He knows just what the perfect woman will be like: sweet, decent, maybe a little naive. The marrying kind.  Nothing like Nora Crane. So why can't he keep his eyes off the striking single mother?  Nora may not have finished college, but she graduated with honors from the school of hard knocks. She's been through tough times and she'll do whatever it takes to support her family, including helping with harvest time at the Cavanaughs' orchard. She's always kept a single-minded focus on staying afloat…but suddenly her thoughts keep drifting back to rugged, opinionated Tom Cavanaugh.  Both Nora and Tom have their own ideas of what family means. But they're about to prove each other completely wrong.…

I am a HUGE fan of Robyn Carr and I LOVE the Virgin River series. I have been waiting for Nora's book for a while now. I loved the relationship Nora had with her father (so cute!!) and I loved her with Tom. There is the best epilogue to this story. There were just a few things that threw me off on this book. Coop's story--I just didn't understand why Robyn Carr wrote such an in depth story line for him unless he is going to get his own book. The other thing was I wish she would have put Tom and Nora together romantically sooner then the end of the book. The book was good, I liked it and would recommend reading, it just wasn't my favorite of the series. I will continue to read the Virgin River series as long as Robyn Carr continues to write them.

Wickedly Delicious Couple...

Sundays have never been more Sexier

Wickedly Delicious Couple is a weekly feature that is held on Sundays, hosted by Wickedly Delicious Book Blog. This is a blog hop geared towards book lovers preferably ages 18+ with the objective to find and visit other blogs that share the same interest as you... a love for Sexy Reads with Wickedly Delicious Couples. It can be an old book or new read.

Who is your Wickedly Delicious Couple?

My Delicious pick:

Taking Chase (Chase Brothers series Book #2)

Cassie Gambol is on the run. In what seems like another lifetime, her ex-husband nearly ended her life and effectively ended her successful career as a vascular surgeon. But even though the justice system found him guilty of attempted murder, he fled while awaiting sentencing and Carly Sunderland became Cassie Gambol.

Fleeing Los Angeles, she heads to small and off the map Petal, Georgia to start her life again.

Shane Chase, a man who’s held himself away from commitment since his fiancée dumped him several years before knows the beautiful newcomer is hiding something. He’s wildly attracted to her strength and her underlying vulnerability as well.

But the last thing Cassie wants is another big, overwhelming man who wants to control her life. A battle begins between Shane, who knows what he wants and Cassie, who knows she needs to do everything she can to keep a distance between herself and the very handsome sheriff.

But Cassie’s ex is back and he wants her dead.

I LOVE this couple!! They are one of my favorites in this series next to Tate and Matt. Shane is a huge ALPHA but the way he is with Cassie just melts my heart!!  I loved how Lauren Dane wrote that Cassie even though she was gorgeous, she didn't know it because of all she had been through but Shane made her see how truly beautiful she was inside and out. This couple shares some very tender emotional moments and some truly HOT sex. Just a great story and a great couple. This is one of my favorite books--have reread so many times.

Her eyes fluttered closed as his lips met hers in a soft, brief and yet bone melting kiss. He didn't even use his tongue and she was nearly panting when he pulled back.
He licked his lips. "Mmmm, cherries. Very nice, darlin', very nice indeed."

"You're jealous, darlin'? Because flattering as it may be, it's unnecessary. I'm with you. You and no one else. Not ever again. But I can't change my past. I'm sorry if that hurts you . I really am."

"Wow isn't a big enough word for the way you make me feel, Cassie. There is no one else. There hasn't been since the first moment I clapped eyes on you."

Leaning down, she kissed his lips and then the cleft on his chin. Her hands skimmed over the hard, tight flesh of his shoulders and chest. Through the hair there and over the coppery nipples, his gasp of pleasure bringing her a smile.
"I like that you have hair on your chest. It makes you even more masculine. And my goodness are you masculine. It makes me all shivery."
His hands slid up her thighs and came to rest at her waist. "I'm glad. I like that I'm not the only one shivery all the time."

Shane looked down his body at Cassie. Her dark hair, slowly drying, played peek-a-boo with her face so he got carnal glimpses of her sucking his cock. What he didn't see was just as hot as what he did see. One of her hands wrapped around the base of his cock and the other did something naughty and really good with his balls.
The hot, wet of her mouth surrounded him and he was awash in pleasure. He knew he had to stop her soon or he'd come and he'd already discovered just how much he liked being inside her when that happened.

Now it's your turn who is your Wickedly Delicious Couple?

Review: Lady Luck by Kristen Ashley...

BEST OF THE BEST

Ty Walker was wrongly imprisoned and for the five years he was inside, he honed his plan so when he gets out, he has nothing but vengeance on his mind.

But then he walks straight to stylish, leggy, beautiful, goofy Lexie Berry and he suddenly has something else to think about. He knows within seconds he wants her and within days he can love her but with the filth that was flung at him clinging; he also knows he can’t have her.

Since birth, Lexie Berry has been Lady Luck’s favorite toy and because of that, Lexie is cautious. But within a day, she senses Ty is something special. With her luck, however, she can’t trust it. Then she finds out what was done to Ty and she’s willing to do anything to make it right.

Even what Ty will never forgive her for doing.

Ty clings to vengeance and Lexie goes all out to give him back the time he lost. But Ty is battling demons within and they’re up against dirty cops and criminals who will stop at nothing to sway Lady Luck against them. All Ty and Lexie have is hope Lady Luck will finally swing their way.

What pushed this book from a 5 rating to BEST OF THE BEST was the epilogue. I LOVE epilogues when they are written a couple years down the road and give a glimpse of what the characters lives have progressed to. Kristen Ashley writes some of the best epilogues that I have read!!

Normally I am drawn to the hero of a story more so then the heroine but in this book even though I was drawn to Ty, I was more drawn to Lexie. I just loved her character so much right from the beginning. Ty was definitely an ALPHA BADASS with a nasty mouth--loved it!! LOL The other thing that I loved about this book was it had my favorite ALPHA BADASS TATE and Lauren plus as usual a great secondary cast of new characters as well as old familiar ones from past books.  Definitely a keeper on my bookshelf and a reread.

Review: The Gamble by Kristen Ashley...

Nina Sheridan’s on a timeout adventure in the Colorado Mountains. She needs distance from her clueless fiancé, distance to decide whether she wants to spend the rest of her life with a man who doesn’t care enough to learn how she takes her coffee.

Arriving in a blinding snowstorm at the A-Frame she rented, she comes face to face with the most amazing man she’s ever seen. Minutes later, when he kicks her out of his house, she goes head to head with him.

Beyond angry because she’s flown half a world away to start her timeout adventure, not to mention her sinuses hurt, she heads back down the mountain and ends up in a ditch. Unable to extricate herself, she gives up, hopes for rescue and falls asleep in the backseat.

The next morning she wakes up in the amazing man’s bed and she’s sick as a dog.

Holden Maxwell spends days nursing her back to health and then he spends the next two weeks trying to convince her to take her Colorado adventure further, in other words, make it permanent and take a gamble on him.

Nina has a tough time fighting her attraction to Max, especially when it seems all Max’s friends, her mother and stepdad and the whole town want them together and both she and Max get embroiled in the murder of Max’s ex-friend and the town of Gnaw Bone’s most detested resident – a man everyone has motive to kill, especially Max.

Another great read from Kristen Ashley. Loved Max and Nina together and how their relationship progressed throughout the story. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book and a couple of things I didn't see coming that shocked me. There is also a great heartwarming epilogue to end this book!!  And again Kristen Ashley adds to the story with a wonderful and lovable group of secondary characters.

Review: Golden Trail by Kristen Ashley...

Golden Trail by Kristen Ashley

BEST OF THE BEST

Tanner Layne and Raquel Merrick fell in love young, hard and fast and both of them knew a beautiful life they thought would be forever.

Until Rocky left Layne, no explanation, no going back.

Layne escapes The ‘Burg only to come back years later because his ex-wife has hooked herself to the town jerk and Layne needs to make sure his sons get raised right. Layne manages to avoid Rocky but when Layne gets three bullets drilled into him while investigating a dirty cop, he can’t do that because Rocky stops avoiding Layne. They make a deal to work together to expose the dirty cop but they have no idea the strength of their enduring attraction or the sheer evil at work in The ‘Burg.

As Tanner Layne and Raquel Merrick play their game and dance around the pull that draws them together, Layne has to discover the dark secrets buried so deep in Rocky’s heart she doesn’t even know they’re there at the same time untangle a sinister web of crime so abhorrent it has to be stopped... at all costs.

And to do it, Layne has to enlist everyone, including his ex-CIA mentor, Rocky’s detective brother, the town’s unpredictable informant and Layne’s two teenage sons all the while stopping Rocky from doing something crazy and keeping their game secret so Layne won't get himself dead.

Every book I have read so far from Kristen Ashley has made me a bigger fan!! I love her style of writing and how she is able to pull the reader into the story from the beginning and never let go. Golden Trail is no different and I absolutely loved it.  This book was different then the others I have read from Ashley as it is told only through Layne's point of view. Not many books are told through the heroes point of view only and that definitely drew me into the story and bonded me with Layne's character.  I adore Rocky and was waiting impatiently through out the book for Ashley to tell the reason why Rocky left Layne all those years ago!!   The secondary characters in this book are great and draw you further into the story!! This also has one of the best epilogues I have ever read!! Love this book!! Another great addition to my bookshelf and definitely a reread!! :)

This week's question:

Who is your favorite flawed hero and/or heroine and why do you still love them despite their faults??

My favorite would have to be Zadist from BDB. I am absolutely and totally in LOVE with him!!! He is my favorite Brother by far. He is the ultimate Badass Alpha to me. He is so tortured and broken and nasty but you just can't help but love him.  And the way he is with Bella and Nalla --- just melts me!! LOl :)

Review: Games Of The Heart by Kristen Ashley...

BEST OF THE BEST

From the balcony of his house, Mike Haines can see the quiet, commonplace beauty of the Holliday farm. But what he remembers is the little sister of his high school girlfriend, Dusty who grew up there. As a teen, Dusty had gone off the rails but when she was a kid, she was sweet, she was funny and she had a special bond with Mike. But after high school, she took off and Mike never saw her again.

Then tragedy strikes Dusty's family, she comes back into town and Mike thinks she hasn't changed back to the sweet, funny girl he knew but instead continued to be selfish and thoughtless, leaving her family alone to deal with their mourning. So he seeks her out and confronts her in an effort to understand what went wrong and to force her to sort herself out.

He finds out quickly he's wrong about Dusty Holliday. Very wrong. And right after Mike discovers that, the bond they had years before snaps back into place in ways he would never suspect.

But Mike Haines had a bad marriage then he played games of the heart for a good woman. And lost. In order to protect himself and his kids, he's cautious, he's careful to read the signs and he's not interested in finding a woman he has to fix.

Then he learns what happened to Dusty and he thinks she needs to be fixed. He swings, he misses and in this new game of hearts, for Dusty, Mike just got strike three.

I was so happy that Mike got his own book after what happened in At Peace.  I love Mike and Dusty together and even more I love the story line between Clarisse (Mike's daughter) and Fin (Dusty's nephew).  I liked Mike in At Peace but I fell in love with his character in this book!! I was also really drawn to Dusty and loved how she was with Mike and his kids as well as her own nephews. This is just another great read from Kristen Ashley that again drew me in from the beginning and wouldn't let go until the end.  This also has one of the best epilogues that I have read.

Waiting On Wednesday...

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Breaking the Spine, to share the upcoming release I am inpatiently patiently waiting for :)

This week's "waiting on" choice is:
Never Seduce a Scot
This sinfully sweet new romance from Maya Banks features a remarkable woman whose rare gift teaches a gruff Scottish warrior how to listen with his heart.

Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but considered “touched” to outsiders. Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn’t speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Eveline taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world view her as daft, content to stay with her family. But when an arranged marriage with a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, she accepts her duty—unprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful she can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled he awakens her deepest passions.

Graeme is intrigued by his new bride, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation, whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.

It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Maya Banks and one of the reasons has to do with she writes the best Scottish historicals!!!  I can't wait for this book to be released!!!

What's your "waiting on" choice this week?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own "Waiting on" Wednesday post, or share your ‘waiting on’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). I would love to see what your waiting for. Thanks!  :)

But fuck him, her lips felt good. Her tits also felt good pressed tight to his chest. The soft flesh under his fingers felt good.
