Reviewed: Slayer's Kiss by Cassi Carver...

Slayer's Kiss (The Shadow Slayers, #1)When the past flies in your face, clip its wings.
Kara Reed is a supernatural failure. But where her magic falls short, her fists get the job done. The criminal element doesn't stand a chance once she hits San Diego's dark streets.
When two smoking-hot tenants move in next door, she thinks her love life might finally be heating up. Just being near Gavin and Julian is enough to make her want to offer her body on a platter.
Gavin and Julian know it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out. They're fallen angels sent to watch over the king's daughter, one of the last females of her kind. Trouble is, she doesn't seem to think she needs watching-unless they're watching her shimmy out of her clothes.
No matter how tempting her guardians, Kara's not about to let anything stop her from tracking down a sadistic killer who carves into his victims and leaves them for dead. Even when she realizes her target may be the very scourge of heaven from which her angels swore to protect her...
REALLY LIKED IT!!!
Oh Cassi, Cassi, Cassi.  This is such a hard review for me to write because I can't seem to find the words for this book. I was not expecting it to end that way and that is where my problem lies. LOL   I need HEA in my books and this book kind of ended with a HEA but not the one I wanted (not even close!!!)  So I'm left with wondering about book #2 in the series and how the story progresses from here. Will it continue on with Kara, Julian and Gavin or will it be new characters??? I can only hope that this isn't the last for these characters and that book #2 is a continuation of them. Your killing me Cassi!! LOL

I really really liked Slayer's Kiss!!  I loved the characters; Kara, Abbey, Tray, Julian, Gavin, Aidan and Jaxon. I was drawn to everyone of them and thought that they each added something special to the story and made you care about what happened to them.

I loved the idea of the story but in the beginning I was a little bit confused trying to figure out what was going on with Gavin, Julian and Kara, but that was just because Cassi didn't weigh down the beginning of the book with each of their back stories--instead of piling it on upfront the information was given little by little throughout the book.

Now the sexing was great and happened pretty early on in the book and often--loved that!!!  Two words: CLOUD SEX!! Oh, yeah!!! (well really cloud fooling around-- twice--LOL) I LOVED Julian especially how he was with Kara.  Kara on the other hand was a little bit slutty--still liked her though!! LOL

A great start to the series and I definitely can't wait for the next book!!! 4 out of 5 rating.

  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to review Slayer's Kiss, Mariann! Team Julian now has two members--you and me! Whoo-hoo! LOL

Book two, Shadow Rising, releases September 25th and has all the same characters, but it's really different than Slayer's Kiss. I hope different in a good way. ;)

Each book has a happy for now ending, but in my opinion, book two's ending is much happier than book one. Book 2.5, which comes out December 11th is a paranormal romance novella based on two beloved secondary characters.

    Thank you for your review!
