Review: The Newcomer by Robyn Carr...5 out of 5 rating...

The Newcomer (Thunder Point #2)
Single dad and Thunder Point's deputy sheriff "Mac" McCain has worked hard to keep everyone safe and happy. Now he's found his own happiness with Gina James. The longtime friends have always shared the challenges and rewards of raising their adolescent daughters. With an unexpected romance growing between them, they're feeling like teenagers themselves-suddenly they can't get enough of one another.

And just when things are really taking off, their lives are suddenly thrown into chaos. When Mac's long-lost-and not missed-ex-wife shows up in town, drama takes on a whole new meaning. They're wondering if their new feelings for each other can withstand the pressure...but they are not going down without a fight.
This series is so different in how it is set up. What I mean by that is the first book, The Wanderer, was supposed to be Cooper and Sara's story but to me it felt more like Gina and Mac and Landon and Eve's story instead. I felt like these 2 couples held way more of the story line than Cooper and Sara.  The Newcomer followed with the same pattern. This second book was supposed to be Gina and Mac's book but I felt like Ashley and even Cooper held more of the story line.  Don't get me wrong...I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series and I definitely can't get enough of all of these characters but it just through me off. I was expecting one story and got another, although no less awesome and I am so wrapped up in these characters and their HEA.

Robyn Carr is definitely teasing me with these HFN endings that leave me anxiously awaiting the next book to find out what happens!! (Mean little author!! lol ) I am biting my nails waiting for the final decision as to what Sara is going to do about her reassignment!!

The Newcomer was at times both heartwarming and heart wrenching!!  The issues that were dealt with were written in such a realistic manner and made these characters so real to me and so much fun to read.  An excellent addition to the series that I am enjoying so much.

I loved reading more about Landon and Eve, Mac and Gina, Cooper and Sara, Ashley and even Lou and Joe.  I also loved the addition of Frank, Eric, Spencer and Austin and cannot wait to see what continuing impact these characters have on the story.  So good!!  Of course I am hoping for something more out of Frank and Ashley~so cute! And the scenes with Ashley and Eric were so sweet that I hope Robyn continues with them as well.  Oh Mac..he handled CJ and the fall out so well but my heart ached for him and his kids. I LOVED how Mac made sure that Gina didn't feel insecure and knew exactly how he felt about her and CJ. I felt so bad for Ashley and it broke my heart reading her struggle so much. I wanted to kick Downy in his junk on her behalf~he turned out to be such an ass hat and even in the end he was still not redeemed in my eyes!! lol  I liked him so much in The Wanderer and it was awful to read how uncaring and mean her turned out to be towards Ashley. I loved that her character came out of that situation so much stronger and definitely better off. I was so surprised with the Austin and Spencer story line and loved how Robyn Carr handled that situation so believably with Cooper. So good!!

Definitely a keeper and I'm so looking forward to The Hero.

5 out of 5 rating!
