Reviewed: Silver Secrets by Patricia Logan...4 out of 5 rating...

Silver Secrets (Silver series #2)
Some hold secrets close to the heart…and those are the secrets that will get you killed.
Rome Wilkins hopes to start his life free from covert operations and impending danger. As a black ops Navy SEAL, Rome is the best assassin the US government has at its disposal. When they call him in to help with mission after mission, it seems as though his best laid plans are slipping through his fingers.
Thom Akecheta, a Native American born warrior in his own right and a Marine Corps veteran, works in the FBI's Houston office as a forensic scientist. His immediate attraction to the handsome and enigmatic Rome is complicated by his lust for Pepper Rawlings; his very beautiful, very young lab partner. He’s wanted her for a very long time, and now, he wars with his attraction between the two.
Pepper, London born and raised, dreams of becoming more than what is expected of her. After graduating at the top of her class from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, she is paired with Thom and her interest is instantly piqued by the reserved and sexy scientist. When a chance meeting with Rome Wilkins evolves into a hot and heavy relationship, Pepper wonders if she can bring together these wounded warriors and possibly make all of their dreams come true.
When the three become involved, none of them expect their country will once more call on their service and ultimately put all of their lives in terrible danger.
This is the first book that I have read from Particia Logan and I just LOVED it!!  I loved Rome, Thom and Pepper. Pepper was so cute~I loved that she had different colored hair, tattoos, piercings and that she was so smart!!  Rome *sigh* sexy, tattooed, muscled, soldier, a bit of a dirty talker, sweet and caring. Thom sexy, tattooed, glasses~wearing, quiet, sweet, former soldier and he had a fauxhawk.  Oh...and they both wore leather pants!! ;p

Great story, great lovable characters, and some SMOKING ~ HOT ~ SEXY ~ SWEATY ~ THREESOME ~ SEX.  Whew...My Kindle was on fire!!! lol :)
So Good!! ;p

This little book will definitely be in my keeper pile to be reread once my Kindle stops smoking!! lol

Silver Secrets is the second book in the Secrets series. I will have to go back and read the first one and I will definitely be reading the third book. The teaser in the back of Silver Secrets for book #3 has me hooked!!  4 out of 5 rating!!  Silver Secrets was just what I needed. Pepper was a lucky girl!!

My Inspiration for Forever My Girl
I wish I had some amazing story to tell, but sadly, I don’t. I was in the middle of writing another story when I decided to look on Facebook. What I saw was a photo and what I envisioned was a man trying to win back his girl, much like Lloyd Dobbler from Say Anything. Only this man is older, he’s wiser and he has more to offer. I knew instantly that this was going to be a lost love story, one where the man has to come back and face the consequences of his decision.

I let the premise loose onto my best friend, Yvette and within 90-minutes we created a cast of characters with a solid plot line. That night I went home and typed the first 3500 words.

Standing in Front of You – the original title – was born. Each day I would send Yvette and author, Holly Stephens, chapters from the night before. The storyline flowed unbelievably well. Each day was a new adventure and I was sure there was something wrong with it because 24-days later, I wrote the last words.

One picture, of a rock star holding his laptop out for his neighbors to see, was all it took for Liam and Josie to come to life.

Heidi, I happen to think that this is an amazing story. It always fascinates me as to what truly inspires authors to write certain characters and stories and how they bring that inspiration to the page. Thanks so much for sharing!! :)

Forever My Girl (The Beaumont Series #1)
I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me.
Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart
and live happily ever after.
I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young.
I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured
my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her.
Her smell, her smile.
And now I’m going back.
After ten years.
I hope I can explain that after all this time.
I still want her to be my forever girl.
"I'm standing in front of you, Josie. You just have to turn around." (Liam to Josie *sigh*)

Wow...I didn't really know what to expect out of this book, but this story was definitely not it. Forever My Girl was so much more than I thought it would be and I absolutely loved every bit of it!! I just couldn't bring myself to put it down and leave Liam and Josie. I loved their characters so much and I wanted them to get their HEA so bad!!

What finally brought Liam back to his hometown was extremely sad and it was something that I was not expecting. But it added so much depth and emotion to the characters and story. I was sucked into the story through these lovable characters from the beginning and found myself thinking about them long after the story ended. Liam was definitely swoon~worthy!! One of my favorites scenes is when Josie finally sees his tattoo. *sigh* My other favorite part is at the end, but I am trying  not to give away too many spoilers~it is so hard!! lol ;)

I loved how the POV varied between Josie and Liam through out the story. I especially loved being taken back to their past. The way that Liam was with Peyton and Noah just melted my heart~Peyton was such a cute character~broke my heart!! I felt really bad for Nick and the way that it all played out for him. He wasn't a bad guy and I didn't feel he deserved to be treated the way he was. He was desperately trying to hold onto his family as it was slipping through his fingers. I hope that maybe *crossesfingers*, Heidi has a HEA planned for him.

I LOVE young love, especially childhood sweethearts, that find their soul mates in each other at such a young age and are able to build a strong loving life together that grows through the years. I have my fingers crossed once again in the hopes that Katelyn winds up with Harrison. lol Loved the idea of these two together. Oh...Sam was such a bitch!!

Such a great story that is definitely going into my TBR pile to be reread. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series, hoping to return to some of my favorite characters. I am such a HUGE fan of Heidi McLaughlin after reading Forever My Girl.

Oh...I have to add that I love this cover!!  I am definitely hooked on this series.

There is one thing that I didn't understand and maybe that's because I'm from NJ, but the whole dropping beer bottles into the bed of a truck from the water tower just screamed dangerous to me~the flying glass and having to get down while drunk?!?! lol :)    5 out of 5 rating!!

Defying the Odds (Battered Hearts, #1)
When struggling waitress Melody Dylan gives a handsome, lonely stranger a simple gift she has no clue her life is about to take a drastic turn.
The stranger ends up being Clay Powers, a famous UFC heavyweight fighter. Clay’s large build and dangerous fists have always intimidated. People in his hometown keep their distance and Clay is fine with that. Everything changes when a new waitress at the local diner buys him a piece of pie on thanksgiving. Touched by the gesture when it’s obvious she can barely afford to survive, her warm smile and lush body churn up powerful feelings that leave Clay wanting more from her than pie.
Melody is running from her past and the small, country town of Garnet is the perfect hiding place. Saturday Reads...A Little Late: His Christmas Wish by Marquita Valentine...

Saturday reads is a Meme hosted here on Scorching Book Reviews. Here we tell readers the book we have read this week that has captured our hearts the most. It could be a new read, an old read or one not out just yet.

This weeks pick is.....
His Christmas Wish (Holland Springs, #2.5)
There's no time like the Present...
War Hero, Joaquin Morales, returns to Holland Springs after years of
estrangement from his family...and his wife. His new mission: To convince
his wife that they have a Future together.
Falling in love with her husband for the second time was *not* a part of Sage Caswell's plans for the Holiday Season. She's convinced that what they had belongs in the Past.
With the help of a little Christmas magic (and a well-timed snowstorm),
can Joaquin and Sage's dreams come true?

My Review

I am a HUGE fan of Marquita Valentine. His Christmas Wish was perfect to satisfy my need for a short sexy read that has love, laughter, tears, a sweet heroine, a hot ex-soldier, some even hotter sex and a HEA that left a smile on my face!! ;p  I have to say that out of all the Christmas stories I have read, this is definitely my favorite!!

Now it's your turn!! What book this week has captured your heart?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Saturday Reads post, or share your ‘read’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). I would love to see the cover you choose. Thanks!

Lusting For Covers: Unbeautifully by Madeline Sheehan...

Lusting for Covers is a weekly meme, held on Sunday, that allows bloggers to share their current cover obsession with fellow book lovers.

Choose your own book cover that you've fallen in "lust" with in the past week. It can be new, old, a reprint, or even a book that is not yet out-- it's all up to you! If you find a cover that catches your eye, then showcase it on your blog, and let others see the pretty covers out there.

(OPTIONAL): Besides posting the picture of the book cover you chose, it's nice to provide the book summary, title, author, or a website link for the book. It's not required, but it can help you readers' to add more books to their own list! A brief "Why I choose this cover" is also appreciated, but not required.
This meme is hosted by TBQ @ TBQ's Book Palace.

Here's my candidate for the week:
January 2013 /  Undeniable Series Book #2
Unbeautifully (Undeniable, #2)
*Warning: This book contains several aspects of the uglier side of life; it is not for everyone.*

The story of Ripper and Danny.

The first time I fell in love it was with a pair of blue eyes and a wide dimpled grin.

“Your old man loves ya, Danny girl,” He whispered. “You never ever forget that, yeah?”

I never did. And I never thought I could ever love any man as much as I loved my father. But as we grow, we change, we begin to make our own decisions and thus become independent and self sufficient and start turning away from our parents and turning to others. We form friendships, strong bonds and ties and begin experiencing life outside of the bubble we grew up inside of.

And we fall in love…a second time.

The second time I fell in love it was with a badly scarred face, the stuff of nightmares; the sort of disfigurement that mothers steer their children away from. Ugly, jagged slashes marred the skin from the top of his skull, down over his right eye, an eye that had been dug out of his face with a serrated blade. The scars continued across his cheek, over his lips and down his neck, ending at the top of his shoulder. His chest was a hundred times worse; scar tissue as far as the eye could see.

“Baby,” He said gruffly, “Man like me got no business with a girl like you. You’re nothin’ but fuckin’ beauty and I’m a whole lot of fuckin’ ugly who’s already halfway to hell.”

But he was wrong.
Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.
Because without ugly there would be no beauty.
Because without beauty we would not survive our pain, our sorrow, and our suffering.
And in the world I lived in, the world he lived in, a secret world within the world, a world of of constant crime and cruel, cold, death, there was almost nothing but suffering.

“You may not be beautiful the way you were before,” I whispered, cupping his ruined cheek. “But you’re still beautiful. To me.”

Why this cover??

I have heard and seen so much about this series that I am definitely interested in reading and the new covers have definitely caught my attention. I love this cover with the girl standing behind him and not facing him. Her blonde hair standing out against the background. I love the affect of the scars on his skin and how he is hiding his face. And I also love his muscled arm and shoulder. Such a powerful cover.

Undeniable Series Book #1 / Amazon

Now it's your turn!! What cover are you currently lusting for?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Lusting for Covers post, or share your ‘lust’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). I would love to see the cover you choose. Thanks!
