Teaser Tuesday: A Life Interrupted by Kristi Loucks...

Untitled

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This meme is simple and fun, you just pick up your current read, flip to a random page, and choose 1 or 2 teaser sentences to share! Here are the guidelines:
  • Grab Your Current Read
  • Open to a random page
  • Pick two “teaser” sentences from that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO SHARE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for other readers)
  • INCLUDE the TITLE & AUTHOR too, so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR and wish-lists! If possible, add the page number.
Today’s teaser comes from A Life Interrupted by Kristi Loucks, published by Booktango.

Twenty-four months. It had been exactly two years since Shay had last seen Jared BelaForte, the man that she loved. Some days, it felt like an eternity. And in others, she would wake up and smell his scent surrounding her like he had been at her side moments before. The only thing that she could count on from day to day was that she missed him. (1% Kindle)

Kristi Loucks is a new author for me. This sounds like a great story. I just started reading so I didn't want to spoil anything for me by going too far into the book and I thought this was such an emotional opening.
What do you think?? Sounds good right?? I shared mine now it's time to share your teaser!! :)
A Life Interrupted
“Jared BelaForte spent his life protecting the people he loves and the place he calls home working for a government appointed task force called The Greater Wilmington First Response Team or GWRT. A group comprised of his friend and half brother, Dylan Spencer. his father’s old partner on the Police Force, Alex Kelley and his cousin Jules Devereaux. Rounding out the team was Shay McElroy, a profiler who also happened to be the love of his life.
Everything seemed perfect in his life, he had love, friends and family surrounding him and his team was on the verge of putting an end to the reign of a known trafficker who dealt in drugs and women. But in one moment, the man Jared had spent years trying to put away interrupted that life.
Sergei Dolenov is that man. He deals in drugs and dolls, a family business you might say. He had been able to stay under the radar in the sleepy port of North Carolina that he called home these days. But when the Governor put together a task force to disrupt his business, he took on a new target. Jared BelaForte.
After two years of torture and pain, Jared believed he would die in Dolenov’s “care”. But just when all hope is lost, an opportunity to escape presents itself. Two years to the day, Dylan got the phone call. Jared was in the local ER, and he was alive. Jared also learns that there was one other person that was left behind when he went missing, his little girl Sera, just 17 months old. She was the glue that held Shay together when all seemed lost to her.
Can he pick up the pieces before the man responsible returns to finish the job he started?”

Today’s teaser comes from Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley.

"Babe, we don't need an excuse. Anyone who sees you in that dress and those shoes will know exactly why we're late." I felt my face pale, actually felt it, and turned my head to look at him. "That isn't true." "Okay, I'll amend my statement. Any man who sees you in that dress and those shoes will know exactly why we're late. Including your Dad." (Kindle 87%)

While drinking cosmopolitans, Gwendolyn Kidd meets the man of her dreams. Then she takes him home. Then she wakes up alone. But her fear that she lost her dream man turns into a relationship with a mystery man when, night after night in the dead of night, he comes back for more. Hoping it will blossom into something real, she lets him. But she doesn't even know his name.

Gwen’s struggling with the decision to end their crazy non-relationship when her sister-from-hell, Ginger’s best friend pays a visit and warns Gwen that if she and her sister don't get smart, they'll both get d-e-a-d, dead. Gwen has no clue what’s going on but she’s used to Ginger’s antics and decides to lay the problem on her sister’s biker boyfriend's doorstep. Bad choice. She hits the Denver Underground radar with a big, loud ping.

This means Gwen’s Mystery Man, Cabe “Hawk” Delgado has to step in to keep her safe. But when Hawk gets a dose of Gwen in the daylight, he makes the decision that he finally wants real with Gwen. However when Gwen gets a dose of badass, bossy, straight-talker Hawk in the daylight, she decides she’s done.

Thus begins the head-to-head of the Commando vs. Cosmo Girl as Hawk woos Gwen in his own unique way, Gwen survives firebombs, drive-bys, kidnappings, hot pursuits by biker hotties and gorgeous police detectives and discovers the heartbreaking reason why Hawk kept her at arm’s length.

And as all this happens, Gwen finds that her sister’s troubles are serious trouble and she must decide who to keep alive: her sister-from-hell or the man of her dreams.

Now it's your turn!!

Today’s teaser comes from The Gamble by Kristen Ashley.

He threw his other hand out, his gaze drifting the length of me as he said, "Fancy-ass clothes, fancy-ass purse, fancy-ass boots, fancy-ass accent." His eyes came to my face and he finished firmly. "Duchess."

Nina Sheridan's on a timeout adventure in the Colorado mountains. She needs distance from her clueless fiance, distance to decide whether she wants to spend the rest of her life with a man who doesn't care enough to learn how she takes her coffee.
Arriving in a blinding snowstorm at the A-Frame she rented for two weeks, she comes face to face with the most amazing man she's ever seen.
Minutes later, when he kicks her out of his house, she goes head to head with him.
Beyond angry because she's flown half a world away to start her timeout adventure, not to mention her sinuses hurt, she heads back down the mountain and ends up in a ditch. Unable to extricate herself, she gives up, hopes for rescue and falls asleep in the backseat.
The next morning she wakes up in the amazing man's bed and she's sick as a dog.
Holden Maxwell spends days nursing her back to health and then he spends the next two weeks trying to convince her to take her Colorado adventure further, in other words, make it permanent and take a gamble on him.
Nina has a tough time fighting her attraction to Max, especially when it seems all Max's friends, her mother and stepdad and the whole town of Gnaw Bone want them together and both she and Max get embroiled in the murder of Max's ex-friend and the town of Gnaw Bone's most detested resident - a man everyone has motive to kill, especially Max.
I'm addicted to Kristen Ashley!!  She was recommended to me and I have read 3 books of hers so far and have Loved Loved Loved everyone!!! My favorite so far is Sweet Dreams...<3TATE<3!!

Today’s teaser comes from Chaos Burning by Lauren Dane, published by Berkley Sensation/The Penguin Group.

He made a sound. A snarly sort of moan. It snagged her attention, held her in place. And then he smiled. Oh goddess, that smile. It made her legs go to rubber. (page 80)

The life of Lark Jaansen, hunter in Clan Gennessee, has been shaped by violence and unrest and it defines her future. Well-trained and resilient, she’s met her militaristic match in Simon Leviathan, a warrior not of this world. Locked in mutual admiration, and a desire so hot it burns, Lark and Simon have something else in common: they love the dark, and as a shadow is cast over their world, they’re each coming into their own.

A mysterious war has been waged among the Others. As witches and humans turn against each other, as fae retreat in fear, and as vampires rise, Lark and Simon discover that an unseen force is behind it. A single, hungry entity older than recorded history has returned to gorge on the magick of his victims. He is the Magister, nothing less than the end of time. Finding him is Lark and Simon’s first hope. Surviving him is their last.

I was lucky enough to win an ARC copy of Chaos Burning from Lauren Dane. I am on page 112 and I am LOVING this book so much!!!  <3 Simon <3

Today’s teaser comes from Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley, published by Kristen Ashley.

Okay, maybe Krystal was right earlier, I hadn't seen "Tate" yet (though I had, I just didn't know it and thought his name was Jackson) and if this was Tate then I definitely wanted to get laid by him. Definitely. (3% Kindle)

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2)

Blurb from Goodreads:
Lauren Grahame has spent her whole life thinking something special was going to happen. She didn’t know what it was, she just knew it would one day be hers. But she learned the hard way that special wasn’t on offer.

So, after divorcing her cheating husband, Lauren searched for nothing special and she thought she found it when she landed a job as a waitress in a biker bar in Carnal. It was perfect: a nothing job in a nowhere bar in Nowheresville.

Then Tatum Jackson walked in. Part-owner of the bar, he took one look at high-class Lauren and wanted nothing to do with her. And he made this known, loudly.

Tate’s angry insults seared in her brain, Lauren decides the feeling is mutual and she doesn’t want anything to do with the gloriously handsome Tate Jackson. The clash of the bartender and barmaid begins but, even though Tate makes his change of mind clear (in biker-speak, a language Lauren is not fluent in), Lauren is intent on going her own way.

Until a serial killer hits Carnal and Lauren finds out Tate isn’t a bartender, he’s a bounty hunter. He stakes his claim for Lauren before he goes on the hunt for a killer but Laurie doesn’t speak biker nor does she understand bounty hunters and Tate comes back from the hunt to find his old lady has moved on.

Life throws curveball after curveball at Laurie and Tate. As secrets are revealed, women are brutally murdered, and Lauren tries to find her inner biker babe

Today’s teaser comes from  Beneath The Surface by Joya Fields, published by The Wild Rose Press. This is the first book that I have read from this author.  I found her in the RT Book Reviews magazine, May issue. I just started, but I really like it so far!!

So here is my teaser:

He turned, swung his leg over the bike, and started the engine. "Sit behind me...wrap both arms around my waist and relax," he hollered over the engine. "I'll go slowly." (12% Kindle)

She’s fighting to stay independent — he’s determined to protect her no matter what...
Brooke Richards survived the earthquake that took her parents and most of her leg, but she needs time to regroup. A trip to Florida for a state-of-the-art prosthesis and to visit her best friend Linda seems ideal.
But the trip turns traumatic when Brooke witnesses Linda’s boat disintegrating in a fiery explosion.
Police Officer Garrett Ciavello believes the blast was intentionally set to hide something Linda found on a dive. When Brooke offers her expertise in underwater archaeology, Garrett accepts her help with the investigation. But since his fiancée’s death years ago, Garrett has become overprotective, and as they are drawn to each other, Garrett realizes he will risk anything to keep Brooke safe.
Brooke is fiercely independent. Garrett is fiercely protective. Will they heal each other’s wounds and find a killer... before it’s too late?

Today’s teaser comes from Phantom Waltz by Catherine Anderson, published by Signet Book. This is a reread for me. I love this book so much. It is the second book in the series and was recently made available in ebook. Which is good since my pages are coming loose. :)
So here is my teaser:

For now it was enough just to hold her like this in the moonlight and see her smile, to know that she was happy and that in some small way, he was responsible for that.      (Page 133)

Today’s teaser comes from Dire Needs (Eternal Wolf Clan #1) by Stephanie Tyler, a Signet  Eclipse Book.

One of the female Weres, laced into a black bustier, caught up to him when he was halfway to the bar and rubbed her body against his.  "Where've you been, Rift?" she purred.  "Prison," he said as he pushed past her, semidisgusted that his response seemed to turn her on. - 2% on my Kindle.

I just started so this teaser is in the very beginning-I didn't want to spoil it for myself by going further into the book. LOL  Enjoy!!

Blook Blurb from Goodreads:

The full moon is their mistress. They are predators of pleasure and pain. Feared by humans, envied by werewolves, the Dire Wolves are immortal shifters, obeying no laws but their own bestial natures. Once they were many, but now only six remain, a dangerous wolfpack forever on the hunt…

Rifter leads the pack, embracing the lifestyle and ethics of an outlaw biker even as he battles an ancient enemy who has become a new, powerful force. But with his Brother Wolf raging inside him, howling to be unleashed, he needs to satisfy his hungers. And when he meets a drop-dead gorgeous blonde drinking alone in a bar that caters to both human and inhuman, Rifter’s primal instinct is to claim her.

Gwen has her own desires, long unfulfilled. She hopes a passionate night with the leather-clad, Harley-riding biker will ease her suffering. The seizures that have wracked her body her entire life are incurable—and they’re killing her.

But none of that will matter if Rifter can’t stop the growing threat to them all–trappers who are determined to enslave humankind and use the Dire wolves as part of their nefarious plan.

So, that’s my teaser this week. I really like Dire Needs so far. How about you? What’s your teaser this week?
