Summary

Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.

Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans...

Excerpt

Emily sat on a fallen log and leaned back. When she was little, she’d loved to try to star watch. In LA, this was tricky because of all the city lights, not to mention smog. Doing it here, in the land of the big sky, was a whole new ball game. “I’m not lonely,” she said to the horse, who snorted again and swished his tail.

“Good. Cuz you’re not alone.”
Two long legs came into her peripheral. Wyatt crouched at her side and looked into her face.  “How are you?”

“Fine,” she said.

Nodding, he sat on the log at her side and leaned back, presumably to look at whatever she was looking at. “Pretty night.”

His hands were behind him, his shoulder and a part of his chest brushing her arm and shoulder. Actually it was more like he was encircling her within his arm span, which was considerable. It was a guy move, an alpha guy move, and it made her feel ... protected.

She was getting far too used to that, she thought with a sigh. “Where is everyone?”

“Gone,” he said, and there was an odd quality to his voice that had her taking a second look at him. He didn’t take his gaze off the sky so she got him in profile, the tousled hair, the fine lines crinkling the corners of his eyes from long days out in the sun, the square, scruffy jaw. A broad shoulder built to take on the weight of the world.

He’d been working his ass off, here at Belle Haven, helping Dell take up the slack for the out-of-town Jade, and then going home and helping his sisters with the monstrous house they were fixing up. He did so much for everyone, and she found herself wanting to do something for him. Make him smile. Make him relax. Make him forget, even for a few minutes…  She nudged him with her shoulder.

He nudged her back and turned to look at her then, his eyes dark and unfathomable behind his glasses.

Chickening out, she turned her head this time, and stared up at the sky as he had been only a few seconds before.

“Emily.”

When she didn’t tear her gaze off the stars, he leaned in and nipped her ear.

Sucking in a breath, she looked at him again. His was still dark, but there were things swirling in those dark depths now. Need. Heat.

Affection.

He stole her breath.

“Let the record state,” she said, reaching out to snatch off his glasses, “that I don’t always make the first move.”

He blinked in momentary confusion, and probably also because he could no longer see. He opened his mouth to say something, but she sank her fingers into his hair and kissed him, hard and long and deep.

“Emily,” he said when they broke for air, his voice rough and husky.

She climbed into his lap and then pushed him backwards off the log so that he fell to his back in the wild grass with her straddling him.

Laughing, he slid his hands beneath her top and up her back, drawing out a delicious shiver from her.  Then his hands slid slowly down her spine, and into the backs of her jeans.  “Let the record also state,” he said in a delicious growl. “Who made the rest of the moves.”

Review: That Summer Night by Barbara Freethy...4 out of 5 rating...

That Summer Night (Callaways #6)That Summer Night by Barbara Freethy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Barbara Freethy is another favorite author of mine. I enjoy this series so much and I have been looking forward to reading about Shayla.

I was definitely entertained by the story and with Shayla and Reid but there was just something missing for me with them and I still cannot figure out what is was. I liked the book but I didn't love it and that is what's bothering me because the story had basically everything that I love. I should have been gone over Shayla and Reid (especially Reid)but I just couldn't connect with them. They were both good characters and had interesting back stories and the whole story line about Robert missing and them having to find him, loved it and I was pulled into the story right from the start. I think I'm going to have to read it again and then see how I feel after that.

I'm anxiously waiting for Colton's book because I'm dying to find out the big secret with the Grandmom!! I'm also so excited that Burke's book is after Colton. I have been waiting for Burke's story since the beginning. I actually think he is my favorite Callaway and I haven't even read his book yet. lol :)

BLURB:
From #1 NY Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy comes the sixth book in the Callaway family series featuring love, mystery, and adventure!

Once Reid Becker was the best of the best, an elite soldier whose career ended abruptly in a mission gone awry. Derailed after a decade of intense focus, Reid is spending far too much time in his best friend's bar. Then Shayla Callaway walks into his life with a desperate plea for help. How can he resist a beautiful blonde?

The last thing Shayla Callaway was looking for was trouble. After years of medical school, she is months away from finishing her residency when a stint with a research team lands her in the middle of a game of drugs and money, and the only person who can help her is a burned out ex-soldier with a hot body and a cocky attitude.

Reid and Shayla have always put duty and career first. But as the danger heats up, so do the summer nights. Suddenly, it's not just about saving the world but about saving each other and a love they never expected …

Review: Better When He's Bad by Jay Crownover...5 out of 5 rating...

Better When He's Bad (Welcome to the Point, #1)Better When He's Bad by Jay Crownover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first read from Jay Crownover and I'm now a HUGE fan!!

It feels wrong to me to say how much I loved this book because Bax and Dovie definitely did not have it easy. They each lived a crap life and had to struggle for everything they had. Dovie's life was tough but she was so sweet and loving and strong. She was determined to make a difference with her life and help others in the same situation. I loved how Bax found his peace in Dovie and how he was able to see the things that happened to him a little differently. Although I could totally understand his feelings toward Race and Titus and their roles in sending him to jail. Bax was so protective of Dovie and was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for her. I loved that Bax didn't really say a whole lot but the things he did say to her especially near the end had me sighing!!

I really liked Titus and am hoping he gets his own book and of course I cannot wait to see what happens with Race. I am definitely hooked on this series.

The sex about steamed my panties right off!! ;)

Just loved Dovie and Bax together so much and wanted them to get their HEA. It was HEA that worked for them and I loved every second of it. I loved that Dovie accepted Bax for who he was and that Bax tried to be better but ultimately the whole of him didn't change. He was better but he was still Bax and still badass. And I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!!

Great read and I am so looking forward to more.

BLURB:
Welcome to the Point

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

CAN FUN IN THE SUN TURN INTO LASTING LOVE?

Spring break in Key West with my besties was supposed to be casual fun. But I never expected to meet James Hunt. Sex and frolic? Yes! A relationship? No. But his hot blue eyes and confident manner drew me in. And when he let me see the man behind the mask, I fell hard, foolishly believing there could be a future for us. Of course I never considered our relationship might be based on lies…or that his betrayal could rock my foundation and make me question everything I believed in…

OR WILL A LIFE BUILT ON LIES RUIN EVERYTHING?

The moment I saw Quinn I knew I had to have her. She hooked me with her cool eyes and don’t touch me attitude. I had it all, money, social status, and looks. I could get any girl I wanted…until her. When my friends challenged me with a bet to get her into bed by the end of the week, I couldn’t pass it up. But sex wasn’t supposed to turn into love. She wasn’t supposed to change me, push me, and make me want more for myself. She wasn’t supposed to wreck me in all ways. And now, if I can’t turn my lies into truth, I just might lose her forever…

Review: Count On Me by Lauren Dane...5 out of 5 Rating...

Count on Me (Petal, Georgia, #3)Count on Me by Lauren Dane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm a HUGE fan of Lauren Dane but I wasn't sure about this book because I never really got a strong feeling about Royal's character. He was always in the background. LOVED this story!! It's funny to me because the character that drew me into the story was Caroline. I just loved her~she was such a great heroine. She was feisty, strong, intelligent, funny, sweet, caring, smart and determined. I loved that she was so determined to clear her father's name and never gave up even though it was never easy for her.

Royal...I had a real problem with him in the beginning when it came to Anne. I loved his character and loved him with Caroline but I wanted to kick him when it came to Anne. I get that they were close but I think he needed to set up some barriers with her way before he did. I was surprised how Anne acted and I was more surprised at the way all the others acted towards Caroline. Anne never wanted Royal. I LOVED that Caroline wasn't afraid to stand up to her and I LOVED that Caroline was the one to finally set her straight after that last stunt she pulled. And I was so glad that Royal finally made a point to choose Caroline over everyone!!

Oh and what a surprise Royal was to me. So sexy and charming and protective. And the sex between Caroline and Royal was so HOT!!! ;)

Such a great story and definitely my favorite of the series. Loved seeing some of my favorite characters and especially Edward and Polly. Looking forward to more and hoping to see more of Royal and Caroline.

BLURB:
Petal is the last place Caroline Mendoza thought she’d end up. Sixteen years ago she lost both parents there—her mother to murder and her father to prison for the crime. Since then she’s built a successful life, but she’s never let go of the belief her father is innocent.

Now she’s back in Petal to find the truth. With a new job and a mystery to solve, she’s got plenty on her plate. But when she bumps into Royal Watson, the sparks fly hard and fast.

When the whipsmart, opinionated lawyer blows into town like a beautiful storm, Royal has a reason to make the time to get off his organic farm and pursue her. And soon their intense attraction is tipping into something more.

As Caroline’s dogged investigation digs up ghosts of the past, there’s not much time for basking in love’s glow. The closer she gets to the truth, the more threatened the real killer gets…and the greater the danger that all her digging could lead to her own grave

Review: Seduce Me by Ryan Michele...5 out of 5 Rating...

Seduce Me (Ravage MC, #2)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I might have been on the fence about Ravage Me (book #1) because of Harlow but I absolutely LOVED Seduce Me. I actually liked Harlow a lot better in this book. I adored Casey and although I thought for the most part G.T. acted like an ass hat, he redeemed himself and won me over big time. I have to admit that I cried more than a few times throughout this story. My heart ached for Casey. I loved G.T. and Casey as a couple. Once G.T. got over being an ass hat, he was so great with Casey. I also loved the addition of Bella and am interested to see if she will get a story with Buzz. Also interested to see if Tug will get his own book. *crossesfingers*

So...I'm hooked and cannot wait for more. This is definitely my favorite of the series and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

BLURB:
Casey Alexander grew up part of the Ravage Motorcycle family since the day she was abandoned by her mother and thrown into her father’s lap. Always seeing herself as an outsider, she spent her whole life trying to fit in, but never really succeeding. When she loses her beloved father, the utter aloneness engulfs her, leaving her searching for solace in the one man she’s always craved. Confessing her love for him only results in devastation when he pushes her away. Convinced she needs a fresh start, she leaves everything behind in order to mend her broken heart and begin building a future without him.

Gage Thomas (G.T.) Gavelson fell in love with his Angel when he was just a pint sized kid. Both beautiful and smart, he always felt she deserved so much better than him. Growing up beside her in the club only continued to test his will power, until one night, he gave into temptation. Realizing he couldn’t allow himself to hold her back from the life she deserved, he pushed her away, allowing her to believe she would never be enough for him. Letting her go had been the hardest thing he’d ever done. Even though he’d thought it’d been the right thing to do, not a day goes by that misery doesn’t consume him for it.

When a tragic shootout occurs, everything changes as once again their lives are intermingled. When you find your way back to the one person you are meant to be with, forgiveness should be easy. But sometimes, we hurt each other too much to ever be able to forgive.

Is their love strong enough to heal their pain?
